About With Flour

Born in the belief that the good things in life ought to be shared and that great food and what happens around a dinner table are the key to human connection.

With Flour in Her Hair is a catering company and event space that specializes in curated dinners, small gathering catering, heritage grain pastries, cakes, and special occasion desserts. With Flour celebrates our community of local farmers, makers, and growers first and foremost. Sustainability impacts our decision-making as we highlight seasonal produce and source our ingredients with great care.

Our Philosophy

Farm to table is where life comes full circle. From the dirt that cultivates life to the produce that is passed from farmer to customer. It brings us as a community closer to understanding and appreciating how we grow, prepare, and share our food.

In every dish that is created, every meal shared, every story told, our mission is to celebrate and nurture the connection between local farming, good cooking, and living with balance.

With Flour in Her Hair takes an honest approach to food and the belief that eating and supporting local is first and foremost.

From my table to yours

Hi, I’m Brita, owner of With Flour in Your Hair. I am a North Shore, Massachusetts-based chef, photographer, and recipe developer. I live for the creative chaos in life and finding the unique moments that feel natural and organic. I am passionate about balanced nutrition, sustainable living, and the importance of food education over fads and diets.

Growing up in the Finger Lakes of New York and raised in California, I came from a Danish immigrant mother, two Italian immigrant grandmothers, and a father who believed that the kitchen was where you should be free to play and express yourself fully. This small fact was and still is character and career-defining for me. It is the push and pull of my existence and what informs so much of what I do and how I experience the world.

With Flour in Her Hair is where all of those influences come together—at the table, in the kitchen, and in the community.

Let’s work together!

I’m available for catering, specialty bakes, photography, recipe development, and food writing. Reach out with any questions.

fuN Fact:

The name With Flour in Her Hair is inspired by one of my favorite bands, Led Zeppelin — from a lyric in Going to California:

“Someone told me there's a girl out there,
with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.”
